JSAUX Sling Bag: 3 Compartments, Joystick Protection Review
A hands-on look at the JSAUX Sling Bag for Switch 2, Steam Deck, and ROG Xbox Ally X compartments.
The JSAUX Sling Bag is worth buying if you carry a Switch 2, Steam Deck, or ROG Xbox Ally X around regularly and want dedicated joystick protection. Three compartments, a removable L-shaped joystick guard, and a padded crossbody strap make it a real upgrade for anyone who travels with a handheld, though the mesh front pocket is tight for anything bulkier than cables.

I Didn’t Expect the Joystick Guard to Be the Best Part
I went in just wanting to know if my JSAUX Sling Bag would actually fit a Switch 2 without feeling like an afterthought, and the removable L-shaped joystick guard answered that fast. You set the console in the main compartment, snap the guard over the top, and the joystick stops being a pressure point. There’s a second reinforced guard down at the bottom too. It’s stuck in there pretty good, hard to pull out for the camera, but that’s actually reassuring. It’s not going anywhere during a commute.
Getting the Console In Took About Ten Seconds
No learning curve here. The main compartment unzips, stretches out wider than it looks closed, and the console plus controller slide right in. I tested it with a controller first, just slotting it into place, and it “fits in there quite nicely.” Once the joystick guard clicks on, the whole setup locks in place instead of sliding around inside the bag while you walk.
The Front Mesh Pocket Isn’t Built for a Controller
That front mesh pocket is where this sling bag switch setup shows its one real limit. It handles a big battery charger without complaint, I showed one going in during the video, and it’s clearly meant for a USB-C cable, earbuds, or a power brick. But a second controller or anything with more bulk just won’t sit right in there. Cords yes, hardware no. If you’re hauling a spare controller alongside your Steam Deck or ROG Xbox Ally, that’s going in the main compartment or it’s not going in at all.
Three Compartments Means Nothing Gets Crushed Together
The rear hidden pocket is the detail that actually changes how you use the bag daily, it sits flat against your back panel, completely separate from the console bay, so you can pull your phone or transit card without unzipping past your Switch 2 every time. That rear pocket is easy to miss if you’re just looking at the front of the bag, it’s a flat hidden compartment on the back panel, perfect for grabbing your phone without digging past your console. Three distinct zones instead of one giant sack is the difference between a bag and a junk drawer with a strap.
The Strap and Fabric Held Up to a Full Wear Test
The padded strap doesn’t dig into your shoulder, and the dual buckle design actually works, I switched it from back to front on camera without fighting the clip. The fabric held up to being twisted, tugged, and flipped during filming without pilling or creasing, it’s noticeably heavier than the thin nylon you get on cheaper sling bags in this price bracket, the kind that starts looking ratty after a month of commuting.
Worth It If You’re Actually Moving With Your Gear

If your Steam Deck or ROG Ally lives in a drawer between sessions, save your money. This bag earns its keep when the console is in a backpack or car bag most days, the joystick guard and separated compartments only matter when you’re actually moving and something is at risk of getting crushed. Amazon’s own sales data backs that up, this thing has moved over 50 units in the past month even while overall demand in the category has cooled a bit from its 90-day pace. Price-wise it’s sitting right around its typical range for the last three months, and close to the lowest it’s ever tracked, so there’s no reason to wait for a better window.
Pros
- Removable L-shaped joystick guard plus a reinforced bottom guard actually protect joysticks during transit
- Three distinct compartments keep console, cables, and personal items separated
- Padded strap with dual buckle switches easily between left and right shoulder
- Fabric and stitching feel durable, not flimsy, under hand
- Fits Switch 2, Steam Deck, Steam Deck OLED, ROG Ally, ROG Ally X, and ROG Xbox Ally X
Cons
- Front mesh pocket is too small for a second controller, only fits cables and smaller chargers
- Bottom reinforced guard is hard to remove once it’s in place
- No dedicated slot for larger accessories like a separate charging dock
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the JSAUX Sling Bag fit the Steam Deck OLED too?
Yes, it’s built to fit the Steam Deck OLED along with the original Steam Deck, Switch 2, ROG Ally, ROG Ally X, and ROG Xbox Ally X. The main compartment stretches enough to accommodate different handheld shapes.
Can I fit a charging cable and a power bank in the same pocket?
Yes, the front mesh pocket handled a big battery charger without issue during testing. A charging cable alongside it should fit too, though it’s not spacious enough for a second controller.
Does the joystick guard work with every handheld, or just Switch 2?
The L-shaped guard and bottom reinforced guard are shaped for Switch 2 style joystick placement, so fit on other handhelds like Steam Deck may vary slightly depending on their control layout.
Is there a warranty if the zipper or strap fails?
The listing doesn’t specify a warranty term, so check the current Amazon product page for return window and warranty details before buying.
